What are plastic whistles made of?

Plastic whistles are mainly made of the following materials: PP, PE, PVC, and ABS.

Common Plastic Materials:

Polypropylene (PP): Has good toughness and heat resistance, suitable for making whistles that need to withstand high temperatures. It is not easily deformed and maintains stable sound.

Polyethylene (PE): Has good flexibility and wear resistance, often used for whistle shells and connectors. Its surface is smooth and not easily damaged.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC): Has outstanding transparency and corrosion resistance, suitable for making transparent parts of whistles (such as the mouthpiece).

ABS Plastic: Made from acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene copolymers, it combines impact resistance, heat resistance, and easy processing. It is widely used in professional whistles (such as referee whistles and lifesaving whistles). Its products can be colored and have good surface treatment effects.

Special Purpose Materials:

Food-grade silicone/environmentally friendly ABS: Baby whistle toys must use this safe material, pass the national 3C certification, and avoid harmful substances (such as phthalates). Material Properties Comparison:

PP: Heat resistant, good toughness, used for making ordinary whistles

PE: Soft, wear-resistant, used for making shells/connectors

PVC: Transparent, corrosion resistant, used for making transparent parts

ABS: Impact resistant, easy to process, used for making professional whistles

Manufacturing Process:

Plastic whistles are usually made by injection molding. Molten plastic raw materials are injected into a mold, cooled and solidified, and then assembled after surface treatment.
